Hatzolah volunteer EMT driving ‘smart car’ hits, critically injures Brooklyn pedestrian: NYPD



A Hatzolah volunteer EMT struck and critically injured a 19-year-old man while responding to a call in Brooklyn, police sources said Sunday.

The 39-year-old driver was behind the wheel of a smart car for the ambulance service, going north on McDonald Ave., lights and sirens on, when he struck the pedestrian as he was crossing McDonald at Ave P in Midwood at about 1:20 a.m., cops said.

Medics rushed the man to Maimonides Hospital in critical condition, with severe head trauma.

The driver stayed on the scene, and police are still investigating the crash.
